Necessary Journeys

MEC Ambassadors Leanne Allison, Karsten Heuer, and Zev Heuer Canmore, AB

For the past 15 years, Karsten and Leanne have been an adventuring duo. They walked, skied, and paddled from Yellowstone to the Yukon. They spent five months migrating with the Porcupine Caribou Herd in the Yukon. And they crossed the country by canoe, train, and sailboat with their two-year-old son Zev and border collie Willow to meet Farley Mowat, their childhood hero.

Karsten writes about their trips, and they both (mostly Leanne) make films. To read about or watch their adventures, look up Walking the Big Wild, Being Caribou, and Finding Farley.

We've always lived our lives with our hearts more than our heads, and the success of one project has organically led to the next. We don't know what the next one will be, but we've always got ideas… and that's half the fun."
