As a member owned co-operative, we are committed to actively engaging our members and seeking input from them on the direction of their co-op. One way that we do this is through research. MEC conducts regular member research on a wide range of topics, from outdoor activity and participation levels, to sustainability, ethical sourcing, and governance. Through research, we are better able to understand and serve the needs of our members by continuing to build products with purpose, people, and the planet in mind.
We conduct research by consulting with our members. We select a random sample of members to form our research panel, to ensure that we get a healthy cross-section of our membership, representing all activity areas and demographics. Through our member research panel - primarily conducted online to minimize our cost and environmental footprint - we are able to seek input that helps us build concrete action plans. This panel is the central place where all this research takes place.
Our online panel research is done in partnership with Angus Reid Strategies, a Vancouver-based market research company that provides us with the technological expertise so that our research can be as effective and comprehensive as possible.
