Store Services
The nature of our Vancouver Gear Swap is changing. Multiple new and exciting events like Bikefest, Paddlefest and Snowfest are hosting more specialized gear swaps and creating new opportunities for the MEC community to grow and diversify. In light of this we have decided to shift gears a bit and host only one Gear Swap this year - the Spring Gear Swap.
Not to worry. Gear Swap has not gone away. It's just changed. And for those looking to take advantage of all the great deals it offers and to share in the spirit of past events please join us for our first annual Snowfest on the Vancouver store roof on Saturday, November 26th. Then check in with us regularly for future Gear Swap updates.
Our bike shops can provide any repair from minor service, like installing fenders, to a deluxe overhaul. If you're not sure what kind of work your bike needs, bring it in for a free safety inspection. Our mechanics will inspect it, consult with you, and if it needs service, determine the best package value for your bike's condition.
Call the store to set up a shop visit. A tune-up may take two to four business days. Minor repairs can be done while you shop.

Want to take a trip, but don't want to invest in all the gear you need? We rent tents, sleeping bags, and much more. If you are considering a purchase and it is in our rental program, you can try it out and put your first day's rental fee towards the purchase.
We also have videos of biking, climbing, skiing and paddling. Please call the store for more info.

Recycling
We will recycle batteries that were bought at our store. You can drop them off at our Member Service Desk and we'll take care of them, but please don't bring any that are broken or corroded.

Turn your old ropes into something useful. Drop your worn out climbing ropes in
the bin at the climbing department and we'll send them to Krebs Recycle who'll
upcycle them into super-sturdy dog leashes. No carbon-intensive recycling
processes required, and your rope gets a new leash on life.
At present we are unable to recycle fuel canisters. For information on where they can be recycled contact your municipal recycling department
