We exist to serve our members.

Our Goal:

Offer the best product quality, functionality, and form at the most competitive price in each of the outdoor recreation activities we support.

  • Achieve high member satisfaction
  • Have the right gear and advice available when it’s needed
  • Provide alternatives that make it easy to affordably enjoy outdoor adventures

MEC now has over 3.8 million members, a 7% increase over 2011. 32.5% of these members are active, meaning that they have purchased something within the past year. They all have different passions, realities, and abilities. Some play close to home. Others explore the backcountry. Some are new to activity, others are old-timers. We’re inspired by these differences, but it’s also a challenge for us. We continually ask ourselves: how do we best exceed expectations of our diverse members?

How We Do It

Our vision is to be Canada’s preferred brand for everyone engaged in active outdoor lifestyles. To inspire and enable our members to lead active lives, we need to match our members with gear that suits their needs. We love to share our expertise, experience, and enthusiasm with them. And we try to reduce the barriers to activity through outreach and by offering affordable races, courses, and events.
