Capacity Building Grants

To strengthen the effectiveness of conservation and outdoor activity organizations and range from $5,000 to $35,000.

Evaluation Criteria

• Your organization has established a strong record in one or both of the following areas:
  • Environmental conservation of ecologically significant areas
  • Outdoor activity (i.e. those supported by MEC such as cycling, hiking, trail-running, climbing and paddling)
• The project leverages the ability of the organization or network to pursue conservation and/or outdoor activity goals through investment in technology or training and development of people.
• The project focuses on increasing strategic or operational effectiveness.
• A plan is in place to sustain your organization's increased capacity.
• Training and human resources development projects will build skills and knowledge of key staff, exceptional volunteers or board members in areas such as:
  • Leadership skills
  • Strategic planning
  • Governance
  • Fundraising or financial management
  • Communications or marketing
• The project goals are attainable within a one-year grant term.

Please complete our online application to request funding through an MEC grant program. We will respond to applications within ten weeks of the September 10th and March 10th deadlines.
