Your path: Home / Sustainability / Ethical Sourcing / Global Issues / Which Factories Make Your Gear?
Members and other interested groups have the right to know exactly where our products are being made. The outdoor industry is very competitive and has traditionally been protective of its resources. In the past, we have carefully guarded the names of the suppliers that we worked hard to find and develop to MEC's quality standards.
However, transparency has become more important than protecting our resources. We can't foresee to what extent we'll put our business at risk by disclosing factory locations, but we agree that the information should be made public.
Disclosing factory names and locations is part of our commitment to being upfront about how and where we source MEC-brand products. We believe that doing so will further workers' rights, and lead to better sourcing practices.
MEC is proud to be the first Canadian retailer to disclose which factories make our clothing and gear. We encourage others to follow our example.
