What kind of courses can I list in the Outdoor Courses Calendar?

You can list any course or training session related to self-propelled wilderness activities or environmental initiatives. This could include avalanche awareness instruction, wilderness First Aid, or a backcountry cooking class, as long as it concerns the outdoors or the environment.

Browsing Courses

How do I limit the number of courses displayed on each page?

Click the 'Show Items' drop-down menu located at the top of each listing page and choose the number of postings you'd like to display on each page. The default setting displays 10 postings per page.

How do I search for different types of courses?

You can search for courses using a keyword that may be found in either the title or the text of course listings. For example if you are looking for climbing courses you might type "climb" in the search box. The search result will display all courses with "climb" in the title or text.

Is there an easy way to view only one specific type of course?

You can make an activity selection from the "Filter By Activity" menu to display listings for a specific type of course. For instance, choosing "First Aid" from the "Filter By Activity" menu will display only the First Aid courses.

How do I sort the displayed courses?

You can sort courses by: 'Title', 'Organization', 'Activity', 'City/Town', or 'Date' by clicking the corresponding underlined column header. By default, the courses are sorted by Date in descending order so that the most recent postings appear first.

Deleting Courses

How long will my posting remain on the Outdoor Courses Calendar?

Your posting will remain until the date you have specified in the 'Date' field of the submission form. If you are submitting a course that occurs over a period of days, the final day of the course should be inserted in the 'Date' field on the form. The days over which the course takes place can be used to fill in the 'Date Description' field. This information will show in your listing, however the final date entered in the 'Date' field will determine when your posting is removed from the site.

I noticed an error on my posting. What should I do?

If you notice an error on your posting once it is on the Outdoor Courses Calendar, you can either send an email to courses@mec.ca, containing your unique posting number and informing us of the changes that need to be made, OR you can ask us to delete the old posting and re-submit a new posting containing the correct information.

What if I have lost the email message containing my unique posting number?

You can find your posting number on the page containing the details of your course.
