MEC Calgary Store
The Calgary store established an initial presence with a U-Haul trailer full of gear driven out from Vancouver. Initial digs were minimal – a cramped office space above a record store – a far cry from the present location, which is a veritable palace of outdoor gear. 830 – 10th Avenue, SW, Calgary, Alberta T2R 0A9 Hours of OperationRegular HoursMonday – Wednesday: 10:00am – 7:00pm

Grants and SupportMEC is a member-owned co-operative striving for social and environmental leadership. Our purpose is to support people in achieving the benefit of wilderness-oriented recreation. Part of our vision is to inspire action for a healthy planet. We seek to support organizations with similar goals through our Community Contributions programs. See our Community Contributions programs for details. Community Meeting RoomOur meeting room can accommodate up to 30 people, and is available to local outdoor clubs, ENGOs, or NGOs that have a similar mandate as MEC. We have all sorts of audio visual equipment (not including laptop computers), white boards, and flip charts. Use of our space is free. If interested, please email bclute@mec.ca at least one month in advance and we'll see what we can do. Display SpaceIf you belong to a not-for-profit organization that has similar values to MEC, and you need a way to reach out to the local outdoor community, why not try setting up a booth in our store over a weekend? Groups can use our floor space to educate the public about current environmental or outdoor issues, or to collect input about future park or government initiatives. Local clubs can also spend time here, letting people know they exist and what they have to offer. Someone from your group must be at the display to interact with members, although we ask that you respect the rights of members who only want to go about their business. Space is free, but limited, please email Brad Clute at bclute@mec.ca to set up your space. Seminar and Store ToursWe offer free presentations and informational store tours to interested student groups, outdoor organizations, environmental organizations, or business. We can arrange to come to your classroom or meeting if you can't make it down here. Topics range from winter camping gear and avalanche safety to the benefits of ethical business. We also offer green building tours to anyone who's curious. You can book a tour with us or pick up a fact sheet and a tour map and do the self-guided tour at your leisure. We can customize presentations or tours to fit your needs. If you're interested please email bclute@mec.ca. Gear RepairThe store offers a repair service for items such as packs and jackets.
