General

What kind of clubs can I list on MEC's Outdoor Clubs Directory?

You can list any club, association, or group that is involved in self-propelled wilderness activities or environmental initiatives.

How does MEC use my personal information?

We only use your personal information for the Clubs Directory postings and administration. We don't sell personal information to any third party. For more info, please read our Privacy Policy.

Browsing Clubs

How do I change the number of clubs displayed on each page?

Click the 'Show Items' drop-down menu at the top of a listing page and choose the number of postings you'd like to display. The default setting displays 10 clubs per page.

How do I search for different types of clubs?

You can search the titles of clubs to find the ones that interest you. For example if you are looking for a climbing club you might type "climb" in the search box. The search result will display all clubs with "climb" in the title.

How do I sort clubs?

Clubs can be sorted alphabetically by 'Title' or by any of the 'Club Activities'. Click an underlined heading to change the order of the club listings.

Submitting New Clubs

What are the submission guidelines?

MEC's Outdoor Clubs Directory Rules are:

Outdoor clubs only
Clubs must be related to a self-propelled wilderness activity or environmental initiative.
No bad language
Avoid nasty language, or we'll remove your posting.
No duplicates
Before submitting your club, please check to see if it is already part of the directory. Please don't submit duplicate postings. (Users may submit the same club in different areas; however, the same club may not be submitted in the same area.)
MEC veto power
We reserve the right to edit or remove club postings at our discretion.
Misuse of email addresses
The email addresses submitted by MEC's Outdoor Clubs Directory are not to be collected, used and/or distributed for any other purpose(s) than those that relate directly to the Outdoor Clubs Directory. If you believe that an email address you have submitted is being misused, please clubs@mec.ca.

How long will take before my club is added?

We do our best to approve all new postings within two business days.

How will I know if my posting is approved?

Once your posting is approved, you will be sent an email notification to inform you that your club has been added to the Outdoor Clubs Directory.

Deleting Clubs

How can I remove a club from the Outdoor Clubs Directory ?

If you want to remove a club from the directory email us at clubs@mec.ca Please include your posting number.

How do I change information for a club?

If you want to change any information about your club, send an email to clubs@mec.ca, containing your unique posting number and informing us of the changes that need to be made.

What if I have lost the email message containing my unique posting number?

You can find your posting number next to the description of your club or organization.
