Integral Designs Siltarp 2 Tarp

The soft, silky-feeling rectangular Siltarp 2 is extremely light, and compact enough to fit into the corner of a daypack as a lunchtime or unplanned overnight shelter. It wads effortlessly into a stuff sack about the size of a water bottle!

The parachute nylon fabric does not stop water by brute barrier strength the way conventional polyurethane-coated tarp fabrics do, so this tarp’s fabric has no waterproof to “mm” rating. Instead, its silicone impregnation causes water to bead up and roll off magically, preventing water from exerting pressure on the fabric. When this extraordinary water repellency is combined with taut and steep rigging, the tarp acts like it’s waterproof, just as an umbrella made with fabric that is technically not “waterproof” provides excellent rain protection.
