The North Face

Staff picks: our favourite gear from The North Face

As a co-op that’s all about getting people outside, MEC is pumped to be carrying gear from like-minded brands like The North Face. Since this is a new-to-us brand and there’s lots to see, we surveyed MEC staffers to find out their favourite piece of The North Face gear. Here’s how they weighed in:

No cold fingers on pow days

“The North Face Montana Gore-Tex glove is my choice for hammering laps on the resort or taking off for a weekend hut trip. Super warm, super waterproof and more than enough dexterity for me to eat snacks, change to ski mode and keep my nose clean. The price doesn’t do lasting damage to the wallet either, which leaves me enough leftover to après like pro.” – Dennis, Ambassador Coordinator

The North Face Montana gloves also come in all black.

All about that puffy jacket

“Hands down my favourite piece of The North Face gear is the 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket, because wearing it makes me feel like I have way more street style than I have. I’m also a huge fan of puffy jackets to keep warm after running an ultra. I find I easily get the chills without one!” – Claire, Junior Apparel Designer

Classic fleece

“I love the retro style of the Denali Anorak (especially the green one) and the warm fleece would be ideal for visiting my family in Northern Alberta this winter.” – Kat, copywriter

For warm (and dry) toes

“These waterproof zip booties would be perfect for our rainy winters. They’re stylish and comfortable. Something I would wear to work and around town.” – Poonghi, Materials Fabric Developer

BYO Bootbag

“This Icebox Boot Bag is perfect for weekend cabin trips. It also lives up to its name and can fit a pair of bulky winter boots in a separate zip compartment, so my other clothes stay clean.” – Brock, Art Director

Childhood dreams: realized

“I always wished I owned those puffy vests growing up because all the other cool kids had them.” – Steve, videographer

The North Face Nuptse Vest comes in both mens and womens' sizes.

Shred ready

“Two words: Bib pant.” – Sonia, Community Investment Coordinator

Throwback Kicks

“I spend a ton of time walking and biking across the city when it’s nasty weather outside, but I don’t like to deal with giant rainboots. Waterproof boots with recycled insulation inside? Plus they have a throwback vibe? Yes please.” – Karen, editor

The Back to Berkeley boots are available in both womens and mens sizes.

Keeping mornings simple

“This Salty Dog Beanie goes with everything and quickly lets me deal with a bad hair day.” – Missy, social media team
