Clif Builder’s Chocolate Mint protein bar allergy-alert recall (July 2017)

Clif Builder’s Chocolate Mint protein bars sold at MEC may be subject to a voluntary recall recently initiated by the manufacturer Clif Bar & Company.

According to the manufacturer, the bars are being recalled as a precautionary measure “due to the possible presence of undeclared peanuts and some tree nuts, including almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts and coconuts.” If you are allergic to peanuts or these tree nuts, please inspect the bar(s) to see if it falls within the following ‘best by’ date range printed on the back of the package:

2016JN18M to 2018MR08M

If you are not allergic to peanuts or the tree nuts listed above, you can safely consume these bars.

You’ll find the codes below the certification logos on the back of the package, to the right of the words “best by” and to the left of the “1% for the Planet” logo. If your protein bars fall within the date range affected, throw them out or return them to MEC for a refund by September 30, 2017 (if possible). MEC carries other flavours of Clif Builder’s bars, which are not affected by this voluntary recall.
