Travel essentials

Make sure to bring these documents and must-haves:

  • Passport (should be valid for at least six months from start of trip, with photocopies)
  • Travel visa (for all countries visited that require them, with photocopies)
  • Vaccination certificates (with photocopies)
  • Airline tickets (printouts of e-tickets may be required at the border)
  • Sufficient medical and travel insurance (with photocopies)
  • Critical medication
  • Credit and debit cards
  • The local currency in various denominations
  • Itinerary, ticket and reservation info

Luggage and organization

When it comes to packing, we recommend using a backpack – it will be the most convenient option. If you’d prefer a suitcase, go with a medium-sized one. You’ll also definitely want to bring a daypack to make sure you have all your everyday essentials handy. Space is limited on transportation, so there’s a limit of one main piece of luggage per traveller. You’ll also be responsible for carrying your own luggage, so make sure you’re comfortable with your set-up. A well-packed bag sets you up for a great trip.

Note: there are weight limits in place for luggage from Aerolineas Argentinas; read the trip details for information.

Choose quick-drying synthetic or merino wool clothing that is lightweight, wicks moisture and won’t wrinkle in your pack. Leave the cotton at home, and learn how to layer clothing for activites.

Travel gear and personal care

Cycling gear

If you’re planning to choose biking as one of the optional activities, you may want to bring a few cycling extras. Bikes will be provided on the trip, so no need to worry about packing along your ride.
