Backcountry camping
The spirit of the backcountry has always lived here. Find gear to escape.
For decades, the twin peaks label on our gear has stood for something bigger: human-powered adventures outside.
Our gear is built to take a beating outdoors and last for hundreds of adventures. But that’s just the start.
With MEC Label, you also get products made with lower-impact materials from factories we stand behind. Plus, we field test the heck out of it to make sure it stands up to everything from powder-filled runs to bushwhacking at sunrise.
Since we design and sell this gear ourselves, we can cut out the middle-people to keep prices ultra-reasonable for the quality (it’s good stuff). Together, it adds up to radical value: made to last, made to perform, and made to be easier on the earth.

Meet the new lineup of MEC backpacks – you've never carried as much (or as little) gear like this before.

Up-for-anything waterproof, windproof protection to stay stoked, not soaked.
Long-lasting duffles, bags and packing organizers for big trips or expeditions.
Almost as soon as MEC got rolling, we started tinkering with product design. In ’79, things took a major step and we set up a Canadian factory to produce our packs and panniers. The enterprise thrived and became Serratus Mountain Products and finally the MEC Label.
Fast forward a few decades and the MEC Label team still creates homegrown designs from Vancouver, BC, with the North Shore mountains as our main gear thrashing zone (a.k.a. our testing grounds).

Everything we make, from backpacks to tents, has an impact on the planet. In fact, products represent the biggest portion of MEC’s emissions, so this is an area we’re zoning in on.
We can reduce the impact of products through the materials we choose and the places we make them. The goal? Cut our emissions 55% by 2030 and 90% by 2050.
