The Cinch offers secure belaying and lowering on a wide range of single ropes. On smaller diameter ropes, or when catching falls that generate extremely high loads, it acts dynamically, to reduce shock load to the system and provide a nice, soft catch. It releases easily and feeds fluidly while you're rappelling or lowering, and it fits nicely in the palm of your hand.
As with any assisted locking device, it's important that the belayer's grip doesn't interfere with the locking-assist mechanism, and that the belayer is attentive and using good belay technique.
- Proper technique and familiarity with the features are essential before using this device (read the manual, yo).
- Recommended for single ropes from 9.4 to 11mm. Use with caution with ropes from 9.0 to 9.4mm.
- CE certified.
