Show Description

A light race-day shoe built to handle mid-ultra distance races and moderately technical trails. The seamless, breathable upper keeps things cool and light, while the midsole offers a soft landing at the heel, and support that gets firmer as you roll through your stride. High-traction rubber with moderate lugs to offer a balance of speed and grip. For a Hoka shoe, the Torrent is relatively stripped down and speedy, but you still get the forgiving landing characteristic of all Hokas.

  • Engineered mesh upper is breathable and quick drying.
  • Protective overlays on toe and forefoot offers increased protection from trail debris.
  • Dual density midsole provides a soft landing at the heel, with firmer support up front as you roll through your stride.
  • Multi-directional outsole lugs are placed for reliable traction without unnecessary weight.

Ideal for Trail running

'Minimal and natural' shoes offer low drop, lots of flex, and minimal cushioning. Most running shoes are 'Light and responsive' with medium cushioning and good energy return. 'Cushioned and floaty' shoes have maximum cushioning.

Light and responsive

Some shoes include added motion control or stability features to help minimize pronation or supination, where the foot tends to roll inward or outward in a biomechanically imbalanced running position.

Upper material Synthetic
Closure Lace-up
Heel-to-toe cushioning

The approximate thickness of the midsole cushioning under the heel and the forefoot. A thicker heel and greater difference between heel and toe height tends to suit heel-strike runners, while forefoot and midfoot strikers may prefer a minimal drop between heel and toe cushioning.

The drop is the difference in height between the heel and the forefoot midsole cushioning. Traditional running shoes tend to have a 10mm drop or higher while minimalist style shoes are on the lower end of the spectrum.
