In the early 2000s, Olympic skier Kari Traa set out to turn her hobby of crocheting her own beanies between practice runs on the slopes into a business. Driven by her Norwegian upbringing and the desire to bring more of a female presence to the male-dominated world of winter sports, that’s exactly what she did. Kari Traa was launched internationally in 2006, and now women all over the world can bundle up for their outdoor adventures.
Kari Traa’s mission is to give all women, regardless of body type or personal preferences, the opportunity to look and feel good. Their base layer tops and bottoms, complete with iconic rose wool patterns and colourful designs, are great for staying warm on a winter day. Even closer to the skin, their briefs and sports bras will keep you comfortable and moving throughout the day. And when it’s time to bundle up, a Kari Traa sweater will keep you cozy, whether you’re shredding on the slopes or resting in the chalet.
In addition to employing an all-woman team and working hard to foster a positive working environment, Kari Traa has a number of commitments to the environment. They’re working towards more sustainable packaging solutions, already making use of recycled materials where they can. They are also proudly fur free and only use responsibly sourced down and wool in their products.
