About Castelli

Castelli is a performance cycling apparel company that was founded in 1974 by Maurizio Castelli.

As a young boy, he watched pro riders like Fausto Coppi and Louison Bobet stand atop podiums in performance cycling apparel made by his father. Maurizio began racing himself during the in the days of steel frames and down-tube shifters, and soon launched his own brand of high-performance cycling clothes.

Castelli is a company of firsts. In 1977, it debuted the first Lycra® short – now a rider’s staple. In 1981, the company challenged the dress codes of the racing world by introducing the next generation of Lycra shorts... in colours other than black. In 1983, Castelli pioneered the sublimation dye process that would splash logos and graphics across jerseys everywhere. And in 1996, Castelli leveled the grade with a full collection of women’s cycling clothes.
