Headquartered in France, Petzl is a family-owned equipment manufacturer on a mission to enable safer outdoor endeavours.

Decades before founding the company, Fernand Petzl was a young French climber pushing the limits of equipment in the limestone caves of the French Alps. Fernand helped develop some of the earliest nylon ropes, and this advancement made it possible for him and his team to make the world’s first 1000m cave descent. Much of the gear we trust today draws on those early innovations, and in 1970, Fernand founded Petzl.

An early leader in LED technology, Petzl brings hands-free light to alpine starts, evening trail runs and midnight card games. Petzl headlamps illuminate the ground beneath you, whether or not darkness was part of your plan.
