In 1973 Nathan Swartz and his team at Abington Shoe Company, invented the boot called the “Timberland”. It was the first of its kind in the footwear industry, with a well-crafted design and a waterproof shell. The “Timberland” become such a well-known shoe that the “Abington Shoe Company” renamed themselves to Timberland in 1978.
Timberland’s aim for a sustainable future
brand mission is to make the world greener, communities stronger and their products better with less impact on the environment. In 2005, Timberland co-founded the Leather Working Group (LWG) who commit to building a sustainable future using responsible leather.
In 2001 Timberland started to plant trees in hopes of a greener tomorrow and now they have planted over 18 million trees and continue to create a positive impact in our communities.
