About Gem Trek Publishing
When Donna and Roger Nelson opened a map and travel guide shop in Calgary, it quickly became clear that there was a gap in the market. Customers frequently asked about hiking maps of Kananaskis Country, and ultimately, the couple set to making one themselves. Since that first publication in 1991, Gem Trek Publishing has evolved to offer 21 maps of the Canadian Rockies.
Attention to detail
Gem Trek Publishing maps are known for their accuracy and attention to detail. Their hiking maps are waterproof and printed on tear-resistant paper to make sure they can hold up under rough conditions and won’t fall apart if you have to shove them in your pocket. They also offer driving maps to help navigate backcountry roads in the area.
Each map they publish is updated over time to ensure continued accuracy and make sure hikers can get the most up-to-date information about where they’re going and what they’ll find. See the selection of Gem Trek Publishing maps to guide you on your next trip to the Rockies.
Staying local
In 2018, Gem Trek Publishing found itself new ownership in Andrew Hempstead and Dianne Melton. Keeping to its roots, they operate in the Banff area, publishing other regional books about the Canadian Rockies under Summerthought Publishing.
