Child rain jackets made from waterproof-breathable fabrics like GORE-TEX are best for wet and windy days. When you choose a waterproof-breathable jacket, you’ll be balancing weight and packability against abrasion-resistance and durability. There are also jackets made with water-resistant materials, which are treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish. DWR is applied to the outside of the jacket so that water beads up and rolls off. It stands up best to light rain, so a waterproof-breathable jacket is better for heavier downpours.
