Cumberland, BC, is a small town on Vancouver Island known as “the village in the forest,” and once you watch the story below, you’ll understand why.
It’s hard to know what happened first. Did the community come together and protect this forest? Or did the forest help create a community? How ever you look at it, it’s a wonderful story that hopefully inspires other small towns in Canada.
A big thank you to the village of Cumberland, the Cumberland Community Forest Society and United Riders of Cumberland for inviting us to explore their backyard, mountain bike trails and nature school, and for their extremely warm welcome.
