Black Diamond Pieps DSP Pro and DSP Sport Avalanche Transceiver recall for replacement of case

We’ve been notified of a recall for Black Diamond Pieps DSP Pro, DSP Sport and Snow Safety Packages that include a Pieps DSP Sport Avalanche Transceiver. Black Diamond and Pieps in cooperation with Health Canada and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission have launched a recall to replace the neoprene carrying case included with these transceivers with a hard plastic case that locks the mode selection switch to prevent unintended switching of modes.

In Black Diamond’s words “The reason for the recall is that the transceiver can switch modes unexpectedly when not locked or installed in the harness. When this occurs, it will prevent the transceiver from transmitting a discoverable electronic signal and can make it difficult to locate a skier in an avalanche, which can result in severe bodily harm or death.”

Black Diamond asks that you immediately stop using your Pieps DSP Pro or DSP Sport transceiver until you can visit their website to request and obtain a replacement carrying case. For more information and to order your replacement case, visit the Black Diamond Pieps Recall portal. You can also find details at the Health Canada recall page for this product.
