Boat safety equipment to keep your head above water

No matter what kind of water you’re spending your day on, safety should always be at the forefront of your mind. Boat safety equipment will keep you prepared in case of emergency – anything from a bit of bad weather to a passenger going overboard.

The first and simplest way to stay safe on the water is to know where you’re going. Marine navigation tools can help you stay on the right path while you’re out and even help you find your way back if things go awry. As with any tool, make sure you know how to use them before you head out – a compass won’t do you any good on the water if you don’t know how to read it.

Paddle floats, throw bags and whistles are all great options to keep on deck. They’re all tools you can use in rescue scenarios, high stakes or otherwise, and being prepared is half the battle. And for whitewater outings, paddling helmets are a must – simple as that.
