Alpine Club of Canada

The Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) has been Canada’s national mountain club since 1906. With over 15,000 members, the ACC brings together outdoor enthusiasts and facilitates guided trips, local events and volunteer opportunities.

The ACC also operates and maintains the largest network of backcountry huts in North America. They provide lodging in family-friendly cabins in alpine meadows, backcountry powder paradises, remote climbers’ refuges. Each year, they accommodate over 60,000 nights of adventurers sleeping in their huts.

MEC’s annual funding supports the operation and maintenance of the ACC’s hut network (service trips, materials, supplies and personnel). This funding helps keep the hut network safe, clean and in good repair. MEC and the ACC have also partnered on programs and initiatives such as Girls on Ice and women’s only climbing camps to help enable more folks to access the backcountry.
