What is MEC Member Rewards?

The new MEC Member Rewards is an exciting, free upgrade to our existing membership. It offers three levels of rewards and benefits based on your annual spending. When you join, you’ll get exclusive offers, early access to events, gifts, special discounts and more. When you buy more gear, you get more rewards.

How do I join the MEC Member Rewards Program?

Joining is easy. New members are automatically enrolled when they create an MEC account online or in-store. Existing members can join the new program through their account online, by contacting our customer service, or by visiting any MEC store—unlocking even more benefits with just a few clicks.

Will the spending before the launch of the new MEC Member Rewards Program be counted toward levels?

Your spending will count toward the levels once you are enrolled or opted in to the program. Any spending before October 1, 2024 will not be eligible. If you’re an existing member, you’ll need to activate your new MEC Member Rewards in your online account (it’s free!) for spending to be counted towards rewards levels. If you’re new to MEC, all you need to do is sign up for a free membership and your rewards will be automatically activated! Once you’ve activated your MEC Member Rewards, your reward level will be determined based on annual spending.

Will there be new physical MEC membership cards?

Your new membership at MEC will be digital. You can easily access your account, track rewards and unlock benefits easily through our website, keeping things eco-friendly and convenient. When you buy gear at an MEC store, a team member will ask for your phone number at checkout to ensure your purchases stay connected to your member account.

Has the older membership program been canceled?

No, the original program that included the Rocksolid Guarantee and price matching is still active. Existing members are encouraged to activate MEC Member Rewards via the My Account – MEC Member Rewards_ page, or at any of our MEC store locations.

How do new customers join the MEC Member Rewards program?

New members can join the MEC Member Rewards program for free by signing up online. You can also sign up for a free membership at online checkout or in-store when you’re making a purchase. It’s easy, and only takes a minute.

How do existing members activate rewards?

Existing members can activate their rewards via the My Account – MEC Member Rewards page, at any of our MEC store locations or via Customer Care, by signing up online or by agreeing to activate rewards at the time of purchase.

What additional benefits does the MEC Member Rewards program offer compared to the previous one?

The MEC Member Rewards program offers enhanced benefits, including the ability to move up through member levels with increased spending, access to exclusive events, special offers tailored to your shopping and a more personalized rewards experience.

How do I move up to the next membership level?

The more gear you buy, the more rewards you unlock. Your annual purchases determine your member level, and your level automatically upgrades when you hit new spending milestones.

What are the levels and spending thresholds?

The three member levels are:

  • Base Camp: $0 - $299.99/year
  • Ascent: $300 - $799.99/year
  • Summit: $800+/year

With every level, you unlock even more rewards and benefits.

How long do I have to reach the next level?

You have until the end of the current calendar year, starting from the date of your first purchase, to reach the next level(s). Once you achieve a level (Ascent and Summit), you will enjoy those level benefits for the rest of that year and the entire following year.

What happens if I don’t spend enough to maintain my level?

If your annual spending drops below the threshold for your current level, you will move to a lower level during our end-of-year review.

What happens to my spend level if I make a return or if my order is canceled?

If you make a return or your order is canceled, the spend earned from that purchase will be reversed from your account. If this adjustment causes your spending to fall below your current level’s threshold, your level will be adjusted accordingly.

How can I check my current level and benefits?

You can check your current level and benefits through your account, or by chatting with our Customer Care team.

What purchases are eligible for the program?

The purchase amount before tax is recorded in the annual purchase balance for eligible items purchased in store and online. Sales tax is not included in the annual purchase balance. Exclusions: Service fees, shipping fees, taxes, cancellations, MEC gift cards are not included in the total sum of annual purchases. Please note that your purchase balance and level information once your order has shipped or is ready for pickup.

How do I use my rewards?

To receive rewards, will need to opt in to marketing emails from MEC. This will ensure you don’t miss out on any rewards that are sent directly to your inbox. When you receive a rewards offer, you can apply your rewards offer to an online or in-store purchase depending on the conditions that apply. Each promo code is unique. You must check out as a member to apply the promo code. For online purchases, the promo code must be entered into the promo code field indicated at checkout. For in-store purchases, provide the promo code to the cashier when checking out. Reuse or multiple use of the same promo code is not allowed. Terms and conditions will be communicated directly via e-mail with your offer. Rewards are not transferrable or redeemable for cash and cannot be combined with other offers or promotions. Exceptions may apply.

Can I earn more than one reward in a single purchase?

No, you would be able to earn only one reward in a single transaction if you meet the criteria for during your purchase.

Can I use more than one reward in a single purchase?

No, only one reward can be redeemed per purchase. Each promo code can be used only once, either in-store or online.

What are “level up” offers?

Level up offers are discounts you receive when you move up to a new membership level. These offers increase as you move up through the member levels and are applicable to one subsequent purchase on full price MEC Label products, valid for a limited time per year. Cannot be used in combination with any other discounts or offers.

When will I receive my membership anniversary discount?

Your membership anniversary discount will be issued annually on the anniversary of your MEC Member Rewards membership. You will receive a notification when it is ready to use. For example, if a member joins or opts-in on October 20, 2024, they will receive the anniversary coupon on October 20, 2025.

How long are my Level Up and Membership Anniversary coupons valid for after I join or upgrade my membership?

Coupons are valid for one year from the date you join, opt-in, or upgrade your membership. They will expire on the last day of the rolling 12th month. For example, if a new Base member joins or an existing Base member opts in on October 20, 2024, they will receive a 5% coupon that is valid until September 30, 2025.

How do I use my member rewards?

Member rewards are communicated in the form of offers and promo codes via email and can be redeemed on eligible purchases in-store or online. Simply apply the promo code at checkout when shopping online or quote the code to the cashier in-store. You must be signed as a member to apply the promo code.

How often will I receive “limited time offers” and “exclusive discounts to select collections”?

Limited-time offers and exclusive discounts to select collections are sent by email from MEC. The frequency of these offers may depend on your engagement with the MEC Member Rewards Program and other factors determined by MEC.

Why did I not receive my rewards via email?

If you haven't received any emails about our rewards program, it could be because you haven't subscribed to receive marketing emails from MEC. Please make sure you’re signed up to receive these communications, as this will ensure you get notifications about rewards, limited-time offers, and exclusive discounts. To update your email preference, click the Change Your Email Preference at the end of any MEC email to re-subscribe to receive marketing emails.

What is the difference between “early access and special events” and “VIP events”?

Early access and special events: early invitations to MEC events, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Availability may vary depending on the event and store capacity. Special Events are tailored for Ascent and Summit members, offered on a first-come, first-served basis and dependent on the availability of MEC stores. VIP Events are a special set of events designed for a select group of Summit members. These events are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

What are the benefits of the new MEC Member Rewards program related to bike and ski services?

Ascent and Summit members receive a 15% discount on bike and ski services, providing savings on maintaining their gear. Summit members also benefit from faster turnaround times, with priority service for bike and ski repairs, tune-ups, and other service needs, allowing for quicker completion and reduced waiting time. Discount and service for members only (not applicable to friends and family.)

Are there additional terms that apply to the benefits of this program?

Level-specific benefits: Special Offers (New!)

  • Level up offers: Earn up to 15% off when you move up to a new member level. Applicable to one subsequent purchase on full price MEC Label products, valid for a limited time per year. Cannot be used in combination with any other discounts or offers.
  • Membership anniversary discount: Receive a discount each year on your membership anniversary. Applicable to one subsequent purchase on full price MEC Label products, valid for a limited time per year. Cannot be used in combination with any other discounts or offers.
  • Limited-time offers: Exclusive access to periodic promotions. Cannot be used in combination with any other discounts or offers.
  • Exclusive discounts on select collections: Special discounts on select products. Cannot be used in combination with any other discounts or offers.
  • Seasonal bike and ski service 15% discounts: This benefit is for Ascent and Summit members and is subject to availability, depending on store participation and seasonal offerings. Members will get the code via email.
  • Priority turnaround for bike and ski services: Summit level members would get a priority in terms of servicing their bikes and skis. The member would just need to communicate the coder to the staffer.

Experiences (New!)

  • Early access and special events: Early access to sales, promotions, and events. Subject to availability and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Events will be communicated to you through email.
  • VIP events: Available to Summit Level members only. Subject to availability. May be offered to a select group of Summit Level members on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Gift with purchase: Campaigns are held during various periods of the year and are subject to product availability.

Do my rewards expire?

Rewards earned through the new MEC Rewards Program will expire after a specified period, which may vary depending on the type of reward. Please refer to the specific terms of each reward for detailed expiry information.

Can I opt out of the new MEC Member Rewards program?

Yes, you can opt out of the program at any time by contacting Customer Care. By doing so, you agree to lose your Level status. If you change your mind, you can rejoin the MEC Member Rewards Program by contacting Customer Care. However, you will not be able to reinstate your previous Level or spending balance.

If I opt out of the new MEC Member Rewards program, will I return to the old program or lose my membership?

You will return to the old program if you decide to opt out of the new MEC Member Rewards program.

Can I terminate my membership (legacy and new)?

Yes, you can call Customer Care and they can do that for you.
