  1. What is your return policy?

All products from MEC are backed by our Rocksolid Guarantee:

“We guarantee the quality of our products. If the quality of an item hasn’t met your expectations, you can bring it back. We also guarantee the product selection advice we give. If something you purchased based on this advice turns out to be unsuitable, you can bring it back for an exchange, refund, repair, or credit.”

  1. What is the time limit on returns?

We don’t have a time limit on our returns; we’ll accept them within a reasonable amount of time. We’re all members here, and we’re committed to dealing fairly with one another.

  1. Can I return something I bought online to my local store?

Yes, absolutely.

  1. I don’t live near a store. How do I make a return or exchange?

You can mail in your return. You’ll need to include a Return form with the item, and you can find that form and more details on the Returns page. Please note that unless the return is for warranty reasons, you will need to pay to ship the return to us.

Want to exchange an item by mail? Please get in touch with our Service Centre at info@mec.ca or using Live Chat to make sure we have the replacement item. You will pay the postage to ship the item back to us, and we’ll cover the cost of shipping you the replacement.

  1. Do I need to have a receipt for my return?

A receipt makes the return process smoother and faster, but you can still return items without it. If you don’t have a receipt, we can find your purchases under your membership’s purchase history.

  1. What if I have cut off the tags or labels, or I’ve used the item?

It depends, but it may be covered by our Rocksolid Guarantee. Please review our return policy or bring the item to any MEC store and staff can assess the item and help you out. If you don’t live near a store, please contact our Service Centre at info@mec.ca or using the Live Chat feature on the right side of your screen.

  1. Can I get a refund to a different credit card?

No, we can either refund the same credit card that was used for the purchase, or refund you on a gift card or by cheque.

  1. I received an item as a gift that I don’t want. Can I get a refund?

To process a refund, we’ll need either a receipt or the member number of the person who bought you the gift, so we can look it up in their purchase history. We can only issue a refund to the person who made the purchase. As the recipient, you can either exchange the item or receive the purchase value on a gift card.
