KEY POINTS & INTENDED USE

The Avalung II is a avalanche burial breathing apparatus. Re-designed for the20

01 season to be lighter, and more packable. No longer a vest but is a over the s

houlder strap.

CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN

The Avalung II is a radical re-design of the first generation. The New AvalungI

I is no longer incorporated into a vest, it's much smaller and lighter, andcan b

e worn virtually undetectable under a pack or over your outerwear. Easyto put on

, use and much more economical. For those un-familiar with the concept, the Avalu

ng is designed for winterbackcountry users to give them a longer survial period

in the event of ana avalanche burial, while your trained companions locate and e

xtract you usingbeacons, probes and shovels. If in place prior to burial (and yo

u remainconscious), the Avalung's mouthpiece reduces the likelihood of an "ice-m

ask"forming around the face, while drawing on the Avalung's surface area forbrea

thing. Even dense snow is 50% air. A special valve seperates incoming

Oxygen rich air from the carbon di-oxide contaminated exhalations.
