Running hydration vests that can keep up with you

Your gear will look different depending on the length of the run you’re heading out on. For a quick jog on neighborhood trails, a waist pack with room for a house key and an energy gel keeps you light on your toes. For long runs, a hydration vest gives you more room for essentials.

Running hydration vests are lightweight vests to carry water and gear. You can store a hydration bladder in the back of the vest and drink hands-free on the run, thanks to the hydration tube tucked into the tube pocket by your shoulder. Large pockets on either side of the vest make room for your running essentials like a post-run change of clothes or a just-in-case headlamp.

Reflective details and trekking pole attachments are a couple of the perks vests can come with. Some vests offer just a hydration bladder, others include a bottle belt, and some have both styles in one vest. Bottles are quicker and easier for refills, but a water bladder can hold more water.

To minimize chafing in your running hydration vest, check out the manufacturer’s sizing guidelines to find the right fit for you. A snug fit helps minimize rubbing.
