KEY POINTS & INTENDED USE

Like the inReach SE but with: Route planning and sharing | Navigation |

Waypoint creation and sharing | Key trip statistics | Detailed tack logging |

Digital compass, barometric altimeter, and accelerometer.

The new inReach Explorer from Delorme improves upon their very popular inReach

SE by adding Route planning and sharing | Navigation | Waypoint creation and

sharing | Key trip statistics | Detailed tack logging | Digital compass,

barometric altimeter, and accelerometer. With the Explorer you are now able to

prepare multiple routes ahead of time, colour code your waypoints, navigate on

the device without having to pair it with a companion device, track back via an

electric "breadcrumb trail", and share your planned route/actual tracks/

waypoints right from the device. ****Page Down****

Like the inReach SE the Explorer has a virtual keyboard. By including a

virtual keyboard you are now able to send & receive free-form text and email

messages ( 160 characters), operate service modes, and configure user settings

without the need for a companion device. You can also send "inReach messages",

simple, predefined text messages for anticipated situations. Additional

features include a small, pocket-size form factor, intuitive LED indicator for

satellite availability, and a long-lasting internal rechargeable lithium

polymer battery.

The Delorme inReach beacons are a true breakthrough in backcountry safety and

communication. World coverage SOS alert with confirmation from rescue centre to

let you know your message has been received. ****Page Down****

Send and receive text messages anywhere on the planet. Tracking feature allows

your friends and community to see your progress (Requires a separate satellite

plan to activate). Canadian plans are very versatile with monthly plans as well

as a seasonal service suspension option where you pay a small monthly fee to

suspend your plan while you are not using it. There is no fee to un-suspend

your plan. While the service is suspended the inReach device cannot transmit,

however users retain access to their online account and historical data in the

Explore web application. This recognizes the reality that most folks don't

adventure all year round.

One of the most revolutionary features of the InReach is the fact that you get

message confirmation on any SOS signal sent. ****Page Down****

Other PLBs on the market offer no way of confirming if your message has been

received or not. Custom 2-way text messaging directly with the emergency

response center to describe your situation in detail, improve emergency

response, and stay in touch for mutual status updates.

Partnered with Iridium satellite communications, Iridium's satellite

constellation is one of world's largest and most comprehensive satellite

networks covering the earth's entire surface. Iridium buffers messages for up

to a day making it virtually impossible for a message to get dropped. With 66

low-earth orbiting satellites with pole-to-pole orbit of ~100 minutes Iridium's

coverage is excellent.
