The X-Trail A is made out of triple butted hydroformed 6061 aluminum. Aluminum keeps strength high, costs reasonable, and weight low
TRP Spyre C Mechanical Disc Brakes; 160mm rotors in front, 140mm in the rear oDisc brakes are typically seen on top end Cyclocross bikes, and the proven Spyres do not disappoint
SRAM Apex 1x11 drivetrain oThis 11-speed drivetrain allows for very smooth shifting and taking the dreaded front derailleur out of the equation. 42T in the front, 11-42T in the back offers a pretty big range!
Asymmetrical fork blades, Ridley added more material on the left fork leg to minimize twisting loads associated with disc brakes, while the right fork is slimmer to minimize weight
Scuff guard on fork: The integrated scuff guard prevents damage to the fork leg from the disc rotor when the wheel is inserted in the fork
Massive tire clearance. 700x42c is the maximum tire size that this frame can accomodate
Optimized Allroad geometry offers more comfort, better stability, more fun oSlacker and longer headtube oOffset seattube oLower bottom bracket oLonger chainstay
Asymmetric Rear Triangle: The shape and thickness of each individual tube of the rear triangle has been engineered to maximize strength, minimize weight and provide optimum road feel
Hidden Fender Mounts offer functionality and while maintaining a clean look
Bridgeless design: Allows larger tire clearance, and allows the seat stays to flex individually to provide a smooth and efficient ride
Internal Cable Routing on the frame AND front fork : Aerodynamic and clean
Drawn-out Oversized Tapered Headtube: Translates to more predictable braking, better handling and razor sharp steering. It also increses lateral stiffness for better out of the saddle sprinting and climbing
The fork used on the X-Trail weighs in at ~500g
GXP BSA Bottom Bracket: makes it easy to maintain and replace at home
Fork Crown / Frame Integration: Ridley designed the frame and the fork together to maximize front end strength and minimize weight. The beefier intersection between fork and frame provide improved impact resistance and cornering performance, when things get rough. The fork integration also smooths the airflow so you even get an aerodynamic advantage
Offset Seattube: One of Ridley’s top priorities in creating this bike was to provide maximum tire clearance without sacrificing responsiveness. This posed a challenge because the distance from the bottom bracket to the rear axle has a huge impact on responsiveness and ride feel. The simple solution would be to make the rear end of the bike longer instead Ridley’s engineers developed an offset seat tube to allow for a shorter rear end. The result is a bike with extremely responsive acceleration while still accommodating a 40C tire
142x12 Thru-Axle: On the X-Trail, both frame and fork benefit from the increased stiffness, strength and security of a thru-axle system. The oversized thru axles are much stiffer than a regular quick release system and therefore positively lock the wheels into place, reducing twisting loads. Stopping power is increased because the brake caliper to rotor alignment is improved. Ultimately the thru axles lead to better tracking, better braking and better power transfer. 12x100mm at the fork
Shimano flat disc brake mount
Wheelset is custom built for this bike and offers a blend of durability, reliability and performance
