Description
The MEC legacy of durable, kids' rainwear continues. These aren't as light and supple as a previous version (made of 70-denier nylon) but for kids who see any object as possible playground equipment, the heavier oxford nylon is built to be waterproof and stand up to rolling, sliding and scaling.
- Made of burly oxford 200 denier nylon with polyurethane coating and a highly effective DWR (durable water repellent) finish, for full-on waterproof protection.
- Fully-taped seams for complete waterproof protection.
- Elasticized, pull-on waist for a comfortable fit over layers.
- Elasticized lower leg openings seal out drafts and water.
Fit guide
Technical garments, designed for specific activities have features that aren’t always adaptable to general use. For example, cycling clothing is longer in the back and arms. Activity aside, the fit of MEC clothing falls into these categories:

Tight, with no room to spare.

Very close fit, with a bit of room.

Generous, but not oversized.

Oversized with lots of room for layers.
All MEC men’s and boy’s pants are regular rise.

Fabric waterproof rating
The standard test for waterproof fabrics uses a standing column filled with water. The figures given are the water column height. A rating of 3,500mm or higher can be considered waterproof. The higher the rating, the more durable the waterproof fabric will be over time. |
10,000mm |
Waterproofness
Waterproof garments use waterproof-breathable technologies and are fully seam-taped. Water-resistant garments use waterproof-breathable technologies but their seams are not taped. Water-resistant garments repel water and protect against wind but are not made of waterproof fabric. |

Windproofness
A windproof garment does not allow any air to permeate the fabric. A garment with windproof panels has panels of fabric that are totally windproof, but the rest of the garment may not be windproof. A wind-resistant garment resists some wind, but not as much as a garment that is windproof. |

Durable water repellency
Usually referred to as DWR. A treatment made to fabrics that causes water to bead and run off instead of soaking through. |
