Put your best foot forward
Arguably, there is no one piece of equipment that can improve your climbing more than the right climbing shoes. If you’re just starting out or looking to upgrade from rental shoes, check out our article with tips for buying your first pair of climbing shoes.
Top brands, such as Scarpa and La Sportiva, have shoes for beginners through experts, no matter if you’re climbing indoors or outside. There’s even a selection of vegan-friendly shoes.
Choosing the right shoe
MEC has plenty of options for all styles of climbing, whether you’re after an aggressive shoe for your steep sport boulder project, or something more moderate for a techy face climb. Maybe you’re looking for a trad-specific shoe for that sweet crack you saw in the bluffs, or something a little more comfort-oriented for cruisy multi-pitches.
It’s all about fit
You want your climbing shoes to fit like a glove, without air pockets or pressure points. Climbing shoes will form to the shape of your foot over time but remember, they don’t get longer. If they’re too small to begin with, they’ll always be too small.
