The right tool for the job

When you are working on your bike it's important to use the right tools for the job to avoid rounding out bolts, or potentially stripping them. Pedal tools are designed to latch on to your pedals allowing you to have leverage for an easier removal or installation process.

Remember, to always apply grease to your pedal spindle and the spindle slot on the crank before installing your pedals onto your bike. It helps lower the chance of seizing your pedals to your crank arm especially if you lock your bike outside all season.

Whatever pedal you get, the process will be the same, just remember to clean, grease, and use the right tools for the job. If you need any help with the process swing by your local MEC bike shop and our advisors can help you with your questions. Also, if you’re in the market for new pedals check out our article on how to choose the right pedals for your bike.
