I’m an MEC member but haven’t signed up for MEC Member Rewards. Am I eligible?
No, you must upgrade to the new MEC Member Rewards program. Sign to your account, select Activate my Rewards and opt in to receive our emails to participate in the program.
Which bikes can be traded in?
The following MEC models are eligible for trade in:
- Speed 12 in. Balance Bike
- Speed 16 in. Bicycle
- Dash Ltd. Bicycle
- Speed 20 in. Bicycle
- Ace Ltd. Bicycle
- Speed 24 in. Bicycle
What is “Good condition”?
We require that the bike is in good shape. We recognize that it may need new brake pads, chain oiling and minor wheel truing. We would not accept bike that are rusted, dented or have cracked frames, dented or cracked wheels, or if significant truing is required. MEC reserves the right to refuse trade in based on quality.
Can I trade in bike accessories too?
No, bike accessories like helmets and lights cannot be traded in.
Is the trade in program available at every store?
Trade in program is available at all MEC stores except for Hudson’s Bay locations.
What is the timeline of the program?
The program begins March 10, 2025, and will be available year-round to MEC Rewards Members .
Will I be able to buy a gently used bike as part of this program?
Yes. As pre-loved bikes arrive at stores, we will be reintroducing them into the wild at a discount. Please visit one of our stores and ask our staffers where to find gently used bikes (subject to availability).
Are used bikes from the trade-in program covered by MEC’s Rocksolid Guarantee?
Pre-loved bikes are final sale.
Are there any other program terms?
MEC may discontinue or change the trade in program at any time. Any decisions made by MEC staff regarding accepting items for trade in are final. Stores accepting and/or reselling trade ins may change from time to time. Purchases of trade-in products may not be combined with any other discount or offer.
