Certain models of Black Diamond nylon runners (slings) are subject to a manufacturer’s voluntary recall. A small number of runners have been found that mistakenly contain a tape splice. Black Diamond recommends that you stop using your slings and carefully inspect them to determine if they’re defective.
The recall is for two styles of Black Diamond runners – 18mm x 60cm (style 380060) and 18mm x 120cm (style 380061) – with manufacturing code 2014 or 2015 on the sewn-in label. According to Black Diamond, the recall is “because of a possibility that the Nylon Runner is not load-bearing and will fail under standard use.” No accidents have been reported, but some unsewn slings may have been sold.
Defective runners can be returned to Black Diamond, which will ship new ones to you free of charge. Defective runners can also be returned to MEC for exchange or refund.
