The design of the drawcord on these jackets is not in compliance with Canadian drawcord guidelines and poses an entrapment risk if the drawcord, toggle or cord lock should become stuck on something.
MEC is asking that you remove the drawcord, toggle and cord lock to bring the jacket into compliance with Canadian consumer guidelines. To do this, you will need to cut the drawcord and the webbing that holds the cord lock to the hem of the jacket. Follow these steps:
Identify your jacket:
Pull the drawcord as tight as you can. Make sure to pull each side of the cord independently. This will leave less of the drawcord inside the hem of the jacket when you cut the drawcord.
Cut the drawcord close to the cord lock. After you cut the drawcord, release the cord lock and pull the drawcord ends through it.
Remove the cord lock by cutting the webbing that holds the cord lock to the hem.
If you should have any questions about removing the drawcord and cord locks, or if you’d like MEC to remove them for you, please bring your jacket to any MEC location. You can also contact us through our Customer Care team at 1.888.847.0770 (ask for Returns) or chat with us online.
