Building on the impressive battery life of the eTrex SE, the Solar trades impressive for potentially unlimited. Tucked under and around the Solar’s screen, is an efficient solar panel that can offer up to 2.5 hours of power for every 1 hour of sun exposure. The multi-band GPS means your unit has more satellites to chose from, and more ways to talk to them. This improved satellite receptionl gives a faster connection and a stronger, more reliable signal in challenging terrain. If you’re looking for connectivity and mapping, Garmin’s free Explore app will help you make the most out of your eTrex. When paired with your phone or tablet running the Explore app, you can plan trips, access topographical maps, create waypoints and routes, and sync it all to your GPS. Your phone’s connection also gives you access to active weather information. Detailed weather forecasts for your location, a specific waypoint, or a GPS coordinate, as well as real-time radar tracking, help you to stay one step ahead of bad weather. Your phone will even send alerts, notifications, and more, helping you stay as connected (or disconnected) as you want to be.
