Grand Retour de MEC Laval 2025 (the “Contest”) is governed by the following rules (the “Official Rules”). By participating or attempting to participate in the Contest, you will be deemed to have received, understood, and accepted these Official Rules.
Although the promotion, communication, or administration of the contest may be conducted through social media, networking services, or third-party websites (a “Third-Party Service”), the contest is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, any Third-Party Service. For greater certainty, third-party services include, but are not limited to, the following: Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Facebook. The Contest is sponsored and administered by MEC Mountain Equipment Company Ltd.
Any questions, comments, or complaints regarding the Contest should be directed to MEC and not to a third-party service.
- WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
The contest is open only to residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority in their province at the time of entry.
The following individuals are not eligible to enter the contest:
a) employees, officers, and directors of (i) MEC and (ii) any prize supplier;
b) anyone sharing the household of the persons listed in a) above;
c) immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, brother, or sister) of the persons listed in a) above.
- WHEN DOES THE CONTEST BEGIN AND END?
The contest begins on October 25, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. and ends on October 26, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) (the “entry period”). Each day during the entry period, eligible individuals may enter for a chance to win the prize listed at the end of these official rules (the “Prize”).
- HOW DO I ENTER?
You do not need to complete the survey to enter the Contest.
To enter the Contest:
Enter your email address in the first field of the survey and press the “Submit” button.
It is your sole responsibility to ensure that your entry is submitted correctly (in particular, by filling in all the required fields in the survey correctly).
You may only submit one entry form. MEC may disqualify you from the contest if it receives multiple entries from you.
- CAN MY ENTRY BE REFUSED OR REJECTED?
Your entry may be refused or rejected in the following cases:
a) you do not meet the eligibility criteria for the contest;
b) you attempt to enter the contest using means not authorized by these official rules;
c) your entry contains false or misleading information, is submitted late, is falsified, illegible, incomplete, or otherwise irregular;
d) your entry was submitted using robotic, automated, programmed, or any other illegal means;
e) your entry does not comply with these official rules.
In addition, MEC reserves the right to refuse any entry for any other reason, at its sole discretion.
- WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS OF ENTRY? AND HOW DO THE RELEASED PARTIES LIMIT THEIR LIABILITY?
By entering the contest:
a) you agree to be bound by these official rules and by the decisions of MEC, which are final;
b) you agree that MEC may at any time require proof of identity or eligibility to enter the contest. Any entrant who is unable to provide such proof upon request may be disqualified;
c) you forever release and discharge MEC, its respective affiliates and subsidiaries, all of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, licensees, successors, and assigns, and any third-party service providers (collectively, the “Releasees”), and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless each of the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, damages or liabilities, including costs or losses related to personal injury, death, property damage, loss or destruction of property, resulting in any way from (i) your participation in the contest or your inability to participate in the contest, (ii) the awarding, receipt, possession, use, claim, or misuse of a prize, in whole or in part, or any activity related to a prize, or your inability to receive, use, or claim any prize, (iii) your failure to comply with these Official Rules, or (iv) any breach of these Official Rules.
MEC will not be liable to you for any indirect, special, consequential, or punitive damages in connection with the Contest or these Official Rules.
- ARE THERE ANY PRIZE CONDITIONS?
In addition to any prize conditions provided elsewhere in these Official Rules, any prize awarded in the Contest is subject to the following conditions:
a) The prize must be accepted as awarded, will be awarded to the confirmed winner only, and is not transferable, resellable or redeemable for cash.
b) MEC reserves the right to substitute any prize in whole or in part in the event that all or any component of the prize is unavailable, with a prize of equal or greater retail value.
c) MEC does not make any representation or warranty, expressed or implied, regarding the quality or characteristics of the prize.
Any winner is solely responsible for coordinating use of any prize and for all taxes, fees, and expenses not otherwise set forth herein. Prizes may be subject to additional terms and conditions as imposed by prize suppliers.
- HOW WILL THE POTENTIAL WINNER(S) BE SELECTED?
On October 27, 2025, starting at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) in Montreal, Quebec, MEC MEC will conduct random draws corresponding to the Prizes from among all eligible entries received. For the prizes to be awarded pursuant to these Official Rules, one entrant will be randomly selected as a potential winner and notified using the information provided at the time of entry. If any potential winner does not respond to such notification within three (3) business days, declines a prize for any reason, or does not meet the requirements set forth in these Official Rules, as determined by MEC, the potential winner will be disqualified and, at MEC’s discretion, an alternate potential winner may be randomly selected from among remaining eligible entries, or the prize may be cancelled.
- HOW CAN A POTENTIAL WINNER BECOME A WINNER?
To be declared a winner, a potential winner: a) must correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by MEC; b) must comply with these Official Rules; c) must sign and return, within any designated time period, any documentation as reasonably required by MEC, which may include a standard release of liability and consent to publicity form; and c) may be required to provide proof of identification to confirm eligibility or to claim a prize.
- WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF WINNING A PRIZE?
The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
- HOW DO I CLAIM A PRIZE?
Once a potential winner is confirmed as a winner, prize distribution will be promptly coordinated. Except as otherwise indicated by MEC, a winner must personally take delivery of the prize as instructed within thirty (30) days of being notified that such prize is available or within such other time period as may reasonably be advised. If a winner fails to take delivery of the prize as instructed, the prize will be deemed forfeited.
- WILL I APPEAR IN ANY PUBLICITY IF I AM A WINNER?
If you are a winner, MEC may require you to appear in publicity related to the Contest or to any similar contest. By entering the Contest, you consent to MEC’s use of your name, home town, photograph, voice and/or image for promotional and publicity purposes in all media used by MEC, without further notification, permission, payment or consideration.
- HOW WILL MY PERSONAL INFORMATION BE COLLECTED, USED AND DISCLOSED?
By entering the Contest, you consent to MEC’s collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Notice, available at https://www.mec.ca/en/explore/privacy-policy (the “MEC Privacy Policy”), for purposes of administering the Contest as described in these Official Rules or as otherwise required or permitted by applicable law.
- WHAT LAWS APPLY TO THE CONTEST?
The Contest and these Official Rules are governed by the laws applicable in British Columbia. Any disputes, claims or causes of action arising out of or connected with the Contest, prize or these Official Rules will be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court of British Columbia, Canada.
- CAN MEC CANCEL OR AMEND THE CONTEST?
MEC may cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest or amend these Official Rules for any reason without prior notice. For example, if for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, MEC may adjust any of the dates, timeframes or other Contest mechanics, or suspend or cancel the Contest. You may not amend these Official Rules in any way.
- WOULD MEC EVER DISQUALIFY OR BAN SOMEONE FROM A CONTEST?
MEC may disqualify without notice or ban someone from the Contest or any future contest for any other reason, including if MEC find that a person has:
a) resold or attempted to resell a prize, in whole or in part; b) tampered with or attempted to tamper with, or undermined or attempted to undermine, the legitimate operation of the Contest; c) provided false or misleading information; d) acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any person; or e) otherwise violated these Official Rules.
- WHAT HAPPENS IF THESE OFFICIAL RULES CONTRADICT OTHER CONTEST MATERIALS?
In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between these Official Rules and disclosures or statements made by MEC or appearing in other Contest-related materials, these Official Rules shall govern.
- PRIZES
The prizes to be won in this contest are as follows. Seven winners will be selected from all eligible entries to win a prize.
