For the powder hounds who waste no time in line for a chair. Made to take on Big-Mountain lines and long tours, the Backland 109s are lightweight freeride touring skis that balance deep-snow float with efficient climbing. Their 109 mm waist and HRZN 3D tip keep you moving confidently through powder, while the FreeTour Profile and Ultra Light Woodcore reduce weight making repeated climbs that much easier. Don’t worry though, less weight doesn’t mean any sacrifice on the power and stability you want when the terrain gets technical. Powder Rocker adds playful maneuverability through powder, crud and chop, making this a versatile choice when the forecast and snowpack refuse to stick to one plan.

  • HRZN 3D tip uses a thin, perforated construction to increase surface area and improve float in deep snow without adding unnecessary weight
  • FreeTour Profile uses more poplar wood and less fiberglass and resin to create a smooth, powerful flex with a lower-impact construction
  • 109 mm waist provides ample flotation in deep snow while maintaining enough edge engagement for variable terrain
  • Poplar and caruba Ultra Light Woodcore balances low weight with the strength and energy needed for confident skiing
  • Full ash wood inlay under the binding adds reinforcement where the ski takes the most stress
  • Fiberglass layers smooth out the ride and add stability while keeping the ski lightweight and responsive
  • Powder Rocker 25/55/20 combines pronounced tip and tail rocker with camber underfoot for easy pivoting in powder and variable snow
  • Minimal tail rocker keeps more edge in contact with the snow for improved grip and stability when conditions get firm
  • Full-length sidewall improves edge grip, while its rounded profile adds durability
  • 87° side edge angle provides intuitive handling and reliable edge grip
  • 1.3° base edge angle makes turn initiation smooth while maintaining edge hold and tracking through the turn
  • Glossy topsheet gives the ski a sleek, polished finish
  • Uses lower-carbon raw materials to reduce environmental waste and CO2e emissions by 26% compared with the Backland 100, 2022
  • Made with a FreeTour construction inspired by professional freeride skier Chris Rubens, balancing touring efficiency with confident downhill performance
