MEC was recently informed about a recall of Salomon MTN Pure Ski Bindings produced between May 1st, 2022 and March 31st, 2023. Bindings purchased prior to May 1st, 2022 are unaffected. This recall is because of a fall hazard that could result from a broken spring in the toe piece of the binding.
Salomon is asking that you stop using your bindings until you can complete an inspection. If your bindings are unmounted or you still have the box, you can find a lot number according to the instructions on this link.
For bindings that are mounted, the inspection will need to be done by a Salomon dealer. The toe piece will need to be removed from the ski for inspection and will be re-mounted if passed or replaced if affected by the recall. You can bring your skis in to any MEC location with a ski shop for inspection and binding replacement.
Further information regarding the recall can also be found at the link above or by visiting Health Canada’s recall page. While MEC only sold the Salomon MTN Pure binding, note that this recall includes various other Salomon, Atomic and Armada ski bindings. Details of those recalls can be found at the above Health Canada link.
